Questions?
What exactly is the Interview Service?
Our Interview Service is a completely done-for-you experience. We pair your loved one (e.g. your mom or dad) with a trained interviewer who gently guides them through meaningful life questions over a private video or phone call. Then, we turn that conversation into a professionally written keepsake that you and your family can treasure forever.
What happens right after I place my order?
After your purchase, you’ll automatically receive a confirmation email plus a second email with your order details.
This second email includes:
note you can forward to your loved one (if it’s a gift)
link to a form where you (or they) can fill out pre-interview questions and book a time for the first interview
It’s all designed to make the process smooth, simple, and meaningful from the very start.
What if my parent isn’t comfortable on camera or with tech?
No problem at all. The interview can be done over the phone or video—whatever they’re most comfortable with. Our team is trained to work with older adults and will make sure the process feels natural and easy.
What do you ask in the interview?
We ask thoughtful, gentle questions about your loved one’s childhood, life lessons, dreams, family memories, love stories, and more. It’s all based on our carefully developed legacy storytelling framework—designed to spark powerful, emotional answers without feeling overwhelming.
How long is the interview and how many sessions are there?
The full interview typically takes 60 minutes. The pre-interview formed is designed for both them and us to create a clear idea of questions to ask to make the most out of the interview. We’re flexible and want it to feel relaxed, not rushed.
What do I receive after the interview?
You’ll receive a beautifully written, edited document based on your loved one’s interview—a story crafted in their voice and full of their words, memories, and life experiences. This will be a beautifully designed hardcover book. You’ll get a digital copy (PDF) too.
Is the interview recorded? Can I get a copy?
Yes! With your permission, we’ll record the interview so that your family can keep a copy of your loved one’s actual voice (audio or video). It’s a powerful, deeply personal addition to the written story.
How long does the process take from interview to delivery?
From the time of the interview, it takes around 2–3 weeks for us to fully transcribe, write, edit, and polish the story. If you’re ordering a printed book, shipping may take an additional 5–8 business days.
What if my loved one is nervous or hesitant?
That’s completely normal—and we’re here to help. Our interviewers are warm, patient, and deeply experienced in making people feel at ease. Most participants tell us afterward that it felt more like a meaningful conversation than an interview. Many even say it was therapeutic.
